Seventeenth century Frech Furniture

Charma! This is a table for playing an antiquated game Tiff/Toff. The clean but gently curved lines of this piece are slender and elegant and fabulous!

Go two by two to the Art Ark

Hi there. Still busy with school stuff, but me an' Chico checked out the robot workshop last Wed. We learned about a virtual world called second life where you can actually create and show your art. Pretty cool. A real life project was offered too, you could augment your teddy bear to light up if a shadow passed over him. We made traxx over to the Art Ark tonight. If you enjoy silkscreen prints go and check out Erin Goodwin Guerro's newest show of work entitled "Recycling" She has mixed some old and new imagery into some quirky and beautiful pieces. My personal favorite was "Johns and Guadalupe head north." It was nice to get out and chat with fellow art lovers and some of my school chums. After the show We checked out the newly opened Flames restaurant in downtown SJ- good food and service. The desserts are amazing. My drey is finally ready- all snug and warm. I have looked high and low for my Kootenscat kitty and I can't find her anywhere. Luckily, I haven't seen Ratley or his gang either. Here's a household hint for all you fellow thrift shoppers. Neutral Kiwi shoe polish will remove the grease pencil marks and also the gummy residue from price tags. Try it, you'll like it. That's all the news for now. - Squerl

Snowed in!

Man I knew that 18 units was a lot but I had no idea it would be this bad! I barely have time to talk to myself, much less my friends and loved ones. I have no idea what everyone is doing! I was able to turn on the radio last night just in time to hear that Obama won- yippee! Let's hope he can help set things on a better path. I just have to keep puttin one paw in front of the other right now or I will get lost in a drift! It's a good thing I saved up some acorns for the winter because food is getting scarcer now, I have to start building my winter drey-it needs to be snug and warm and waterproof, as if I don't have enough to do already! Well we are all feeling the crunch this time of year. Hang in there friends and don't give up. -Squerl

Feelin kind of Numb 10-18-08

Went to church and that helped a lot. Staring at the sacred tree, giving thanks and an offering to the universe, these little rituals somehow make things easier to deal with. Maybe it's the comfort of doing something familiar. I wish they could take all the money that they spend on wars and put it toward figuring out how to make people not want to destroy themselves with drugs and alcohol. I did a little art today, and that always helps too. It seems like for me art is another world that you can possibly make perfect. I took a class field trip to Stanford University. Wow! What a beautiful campus. We listened to Vik Muniz talk about his work from clown skulls to garbage dump art. What was great was how he auctioned the photos of the garbage dump art (for big bucks,) and then gave all the money to the poorest of the poor who live there. That is the kind of thing I want to do someday. Hangin in there, -Squerl

Squerl goes to Church 10-19-08

It's been a long time since I went to church. I just want to go and sit there by myself and meditate. I feel so confused about Dad dying, I feel like I need to go and say some prayers for him and mom and me. When I look at St. Squillacious' icon and gaze upon the golden tree, it reminds me that our lives and our earth are precious and we rarely know how much we love things until they are gone. I just want to go and be thankful for what I do have. - Squerl
